The Ceramic Review

The article discusses the influence of painter Pablo Picasso on the town of Vallauris in southern France. Picasso lived in Vallauris with his family during the period 1948-1955. In Vallauris, Picasso created experimental ceramic forms for plates, dishes, jars, and bottles that were exhibited at the Madoura Pottery. Most of Picasso's ceramic themes displayed bull-fights, birds, and women. The town of Vallauris has not been spared from the effects of the recession but remains a strategic centre for modern art ceramics.
